Most UK orders will be sent by Royal Mail Second Class "Scanned on Delivery". However we reserve the right to make alternative delivery arrangements if we see fit, and you (or someone at your address) may be required to sign for receipt. If no-one is in when delivery is attempted by alternative methods, a card will be left. Please telephone the number on the card and arrange redelivery at a time to suit.
Mail posted to UK addresses using the Royal Mail Second Class often arrives two or three days after dispatch. However, if you wish to be absolutely safe, please allow at least one week for delivery during busy periods (e.g. the pre-Christmas period) especially if you are ordered large items such as advent calendars, which we find are usually slower to arrive.
Please wait at least 14 days for delivery after the date of our confirmation-of-dispatch email (as per the terms of the Royal Mail) before contacting us to report that your order has failed to arrive.
All prices shown on this website included VAT at the standard rate (if applicable). Our VAT registration number is 872 0784 09.
We regret that we do not have the functionality to account for VAT at different rates, and are no longer able to refund VAT to customers based outside the UK.
Payment must be received in full before the order will be dispatched. We accept payment in Pounds Sterling only, by credit or debit card or Paypal.
Confirmation of orders
We will send you an email to confirm receipt of your order following the successful authorisation of your payment card or Paypal transaction. We will send a further email to confirm dispatch of your order in due course.
If you do not appear to receive these automatic emails, please check your “spam” filter in case they have been mistakenly identified as junk mail. If you are still unable to find them, please contact us to enquire about the status of your order.
Cancellation of orders
You have the right to cancel your order at any time up to seven working days starting the day after delivery. If you change your mind about an order after it has been dispatched, please return it to us in the original protective envelope (or other packaging) and we will refund the cost (and postage where applicable) of all items received in pristine condition. You (the customer) are responsible for return postage costs.
Website privacy & information security policy
In order to provide the services and products available through the website, we will hold certain personal information relating to you (as provided by you during the registration process). We have obligations in relation to your personal information under the General Data Protection Regulation which came into force on 25 May 2018.
Under the terms of the GDPR, we (Orchard Cards Limited t/a Traditional Advent Calendars) are a Data Controller and a Data Processor. We collect and store customer data (name, postal and email address and telephone number) in order to be able to process sales orders. We do not collect or store your payment card information. We subcontract payment processing to a third party (SagePay), and customers of Traditional Advent Calendars leave our website and enter the SagePay secure payment gateway in order to enter payment card details at the end of the checkout process.
By providing personal information, you agree that we may use this information for the operation of the website and the provision of the services and the products to you.
Where you provide information about other people (for example, you might use your spouse's email address as your login) you also confirm that you have the consent of these people to provide us with that information.
Any personal information that we collect from you will be used solely for the purposes of operating the website and providing the services and products to you. We will never disclose your information to any outside organisation except as part of the operation of the website and/or the provision of the services and products to you, or where we are legally obliged to do so.
The personal information that you provide will be securely stored. Should you provide personal information over the phone, any temporary notes made on paper will be destroyed as quickly as possible.
The accuracy of your personal information is dependant upon the accuracy of the information that you provide. We will not verify personal information provided by you and we shall not be responsible for errors or problems that arise as a result of inaccurate information submitted by you.
From time to time we may contact (by email or post) customers who are opted in to our newsletters, to inform them about our products, discounts and special offers, as we have a legitimate interest in marketing our goods to existing customers to increase sales. You will always be given the opportunity to opt-out (via a link in an email, by updating your contact preferences in your Traditional Advent Calendars account or by email or phone) if you no longer wish to receive further information notices and we will always act on your instructions.
Limitation of liability
Orchard Cards Ltd t/a Traditional Advent Calendars, its officers, directors, employees, shareholders or agents and any other party involved in creating and maintaining the website hereby exclude all and any liability and responsibility for any amount or kind of loss or damage incurred by:
- Interruption of the operation of the business including, but not limited to, website downtime, postal strikes, Acts of God etc.
- Viruses that may infect your computer equipment, software, data or other property on account of your access to, use of, or browsing the website.
- Your downloading of any material from the website or any websites linked to the website.
- Offence caused by or mistakes made in your message, where you have asked us to send an item directly to a third-party recipient.
- Failure of the Royal Mail or other delivery companies to deliver your order, or for damage suffered during the delivery process.
Nothing in these Terms shall exclude or limit our liability for any liability which cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.
In no event shall our total aggregate liability to you for all and any damages and/or losses exceed the amount paid by you, if any, for accessing the website, purchasing and/or enjoying our products or using the services provided via the website.
Whilst we shall endeavour to ensure that the information and images on the website are true and correct, we do not warrant the accuracy and completeness of the material on the website. We may make changes to the material on the website, or to the services, the products and/or the prices described in the website, at any time and without notice. The material on the website may be out of date, and we make no commitment to update such material.
Governing Law and Jurisdiction
The Terms above shall be governed by and construed in accordance with English law and disputes arising in connection with our business shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
Any reference in the Terms above to “we” or “us” or “our” is a reference to the company (Orchard Cards Ltd) and any reference to “you” or “your” is a reference to any user of the website and, where relevant, the recipient of any product or service from the website. Any reference to the “website” shall refer to www.traditionaladventcalendars.co.uk.
